The Countdown Begins…4 days until release day
In honor of my debut releasing in 7 days, I’m offering a $15 GC from either Amazon, B&N, MuseItUp, or Book Depository on my release day. Follow my posts for the next seven days. On each day, they will be themed. Just tell me what all 7 seven themes were during the week and on my actual release day just write them in the comment section. Easy peasy. Good luck!
The official countdown has begun. Only 4 days until my debut releases from MuseItUp Publishing. I still can’t believe it. The world didn’t end and the Mayans were wrong. So, I will definitely be around on Friday.
Did you get the themes so far? The ones that later in the week my brew up a bit of a backlash.
Today’s topic should hit a nerve with some people and I’m sure I’ll shoot myself in the foot but its my opinion and my thoughts. As a blogger/reviewer in my other life, I know the importance of social media. I have set all of my blog post to FB, Twitter, email subscription and Networked Blogs so I don’t have to worry about getting word out . My problem is finding my niche in either FB or Twitter. Roni Loren had an excellent post on how to reach readers on social media. Here’s the link to the post.
As usual, Roni broke down the pros and cons of both and a lot of it made sense. My problem is that I’m just not that interesting. I don’t post nude or semi-nude pictures on FB. I don’t tweet about what I had for lunch or what I’m wearing. Up until 5 months ago, I worked a full-time job, had a house to run, a kid and a husband. Other than the occasionally moment, I didn’t really FB or tweet much. I didn’t have time for it. I barely had enough time to review, write and blog. Well, in these past months of being a stay at home mom, I tried FB. Loved it at first until the crash of political ads, postings and other crap that I just wasn’t interested in the presidential campaign. I think a lot of what people wanted to post got lost and that happened to me. I’ve never recovered from it. People tend to ignore me anyway on FB and Twitter but the crickets are louder now than they were before.
I’ve often thought that I’ve been blacklisted on social media but then I thought…wait, I’m just not that important to blacklist. *sigh* I barely get a re-tweet or a mention. As for Twitter, well, I’ve seen some true ugliness on Twitter. The snarky, bad behavior is completely prevalent between people. I’ve seen reviewers decimate authors on release day; authors being snarky to other authors and just down right rudeness. I’m generally a happy person so I don’t get the “let’s pick on someone today” or the snarkiness. Plus, I’m not any good at the hash tag thing either. I get lost easily on the hash tags and then I give up.
So my last thoughts are social media are mixed. I’m not a Twitter Ho nor do I live on FB. I know that I need a presence on social media but since I’m not your typical poster, I’m at a loss. I have pages set up for all of my blogs and even have an author page and nothing. Hmm…I know that a lot of authors have peeps that are constantly tweeting, posting on FB for them. Some even have assistants that do most of that for them. Wish I could find someone to help but finding that peep is hard. Everyone is busy with the holidays and their own life. I have nothing to offer as payment or even books to give them.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Hate mail? I’m all ears…
